Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health. Responsibilities Provides 1:1 direct observation (in patient’s room) to assigned patient to prevent patient self-injury. Maintains visual observation at all times. Participates in collaborative identification of and reporting of patient safety issues. Removes any potential safety hazard from patient room and reports findings to nursing staff. Promotes diversionary activities as necessary and appropriate Documents proof of observation on suicide precautions and other safety protocols Assists patient with Activities of Daily Living in accordance with job training and in collaboration with health care team. Nursing staff must be notified if patient lifting is required. Notifies assigned nursing and support staff on assigned area immediately in case of emergency, or as needed to provide patient care on a routine basis. Seeks assistance immediately when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred License(s)/Certification(s): Reliable personal transportation is required, as team members may be asked to travel between campuses during a shift A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to meet driving record standards Must possess and maintain valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain certification within three (3) months. Other: Level 2 Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, pushing or pulling arm or leg controls or maintaining a production rate pace. Light work requires physical exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work.
Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 direct observation of assigned patients to prevent self-injury and maintain a safe environment. Collaborate with nursing staff to report safety issues and assist patients with activities of daily living.
