NHS Professionals are looking to recruit a brand new and exciting role for Buckinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. Patient Safety partners sole aim is to empower patients and carers. You will work alongside NHS staff to improve safety in our Health and Care settings.
Patient Safety Partners (PSPs) are patients, carers and family members who are recruited to work in partnership with staff to influence and improve governance and leadership in the provision of health care. Patient Safety Partners will provide a unique perspective on patient safety and will be actively involved in the design of safer healthcare and support effective safety governance at all levels within our organisation. They will need to have a genuine commitment to developing excellent health services along with an understanding of and a broad interest in patient safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an advocate and leader in the Trust for patient safety activities.
  • Promote and support patients/carers to get involved and work alongside the Trust on patient safety projects.
  • Advocate for a diverse range of views from patients, carers, and families.
  • Lead and support changes to improve patient safety, this will include being part of quality improvement projects.
  • Produce and present high-quality reports that represent the views of patients and families and make recommendations for changes in practice.
  • Provide and receive complex and sensitive information. Partners may be exposed to highly emotional experiences depending on what work they become involved with.
  • Work with staff, patients, carers/ families, and members of the public affected by incidents with a focus on learning to help design safer systems of care.

Person specification:

  • Ability to review, digest and comprehend a range of information and opinions.
  • Ability to plan and manage your own time.
  • Confidence to communicate well, both verbally and written and be able to communicate with staff at all levels within the organisation. To act as an advocate for patient safety.
  • Ability to attend and actively contribute to workshops and other meetings, providing and being open to constructive challenge.

The role will involve but not limited to you performing the above.
