GENERAL SUMMARY:

Novant Health Hilton Head Orthopedics is seeking a dedicated and friendly Patient Service Representative to join our team. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service to patients and ensuring smooth front office operations in a busy, fast-paced medical environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a professional demeanor to assist with scheduling, patient check-in, and various administrative tasks.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a medical office assistant program is preferred.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional, patient-centered attitude.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance verification preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients as they arrive at the office, providing a warm, professional, and welcoming experience.
  • Scheduling & Appointments: Answer office phone calls, schedule new appointments, confirm existing appointments, and reschedule as necessary. Ensure all information is accurately entered into the system.
  • Patient Check-In & Data Entry: Collect patient demographics, verify insurance information, and ensure accurate data entry into the electronic health record system.
  • Check-Out & Follow-Up: Assist patients at checkout, process referrals, schedule follow-up appointments, and collect co-pays.
  • Charge Entry & Processing: Process charge entries and manage patient balances.
  • Information Distribution: Provide patients with information on office policies, procedures, and general practice details.
  • Patient Portal Enrollment: Explain the benefits of the patient portal and assist patients with enrollment and usage.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required to support the efficient operation of the office.
