Description

Patient Care Act as a receptionist in receiving patients in a friendly, helpful manner directing them to the appropriate health care professional Make surgery appointments for patients Make urgent hospital transport arrangements when required Respond to all queries from or in relation to our patients or other visitors, where necessary consulting with the doctor Pass accurate and timely messages to the doctors and other members of the primary health care team Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner Ensure that anyone requesting treatment in a medical emergency is provided with the appropriate care as quickly as possible Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensure procedures are completed prior to consultation Issue prescriptions and other certificates discretely and securely Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, arrange appointments, accept payment and issue receipt for payment Assist in chaperoning with clinicians when necessary General Administration Organise and arrange recall of patients at clinicians requests Undertake administrative duties in relation to chronic disease / at risk registers as specified by the manager on site. Take, record and action telephone messages promptly, accurately and appropriately Extract records for other projects and re-file records accurately File hospital correspondence and letters in medical records to current procedural standards if required Take and prepare requests for repeat prescriptions in person/post if required and enter accurately in medical records Prepare computerised prescriptions for collection by the patient according to the current protocol if required Record medical reports from the deputising service and record in the patients medical records Input/maintain patients clinical data on the clinical computer system Check and file records received from PCSE for new patients Actively participate in relevant audit topics Extract information to assist in completion of targets returns for the PCSE Undertake referrals to community and hospital providers Operate appropriate functions of the clinical system Support the practice when required by processing and filing patient specific correspondence if required Ensure security of data at all times The above duties of your job title does not indicate a limitation on your duties or job function in any way and you may be requested to perform alternative duties by your manager.
