Primary objective
To provide customer focused and effective services which is essential for the administrative operations of the Tennant Creek Hospital.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to
ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
2. Provide frontline information services in response to queries from the public, staff and related agencies and assist patients to complete
relevant demographic and personal details ensuring accurate data is recorded in a timely manner.
3. Provide administration assistance to the multidisciplinary team at Tennant Creek Hospital.
4. Prepare and maintain patient medical records in line with the health service policy and assist patients to complete relevant details on
election forms and insurance claim forms.
5. Coordinate, confirm, follow up and reschedule other medical and clinic appointments for patients within both internally and externally.
6. Build strong communication with internal and external stake holders to ensure clinics, and Tele-Health appointments are well
coordinated.
7. Coordinate, liaise and assist with Patient Assistance Travel Scheme requests in line with hospital requirements.
8. Utilise Medicare benefits schedule and prepare accounts for all Public, MVA, Workers Compensation and Ineligible patients, co-
ordinate and liaise with organisations and individuals about outstanding invoices of the Hospital revenue.
9. Liaise and coordinate the Specialist clinics, Outpatients and Radiology appointments.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience providing quality front line customer service and the ability to successfully negotiate when dealing with
difficult situations.
2. Demonstrated good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people from
diverse cultures.
3. High level of organisational skills, the ability to set priorities, complete tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, maintain
confidentiality in the workplace and ability to operate as an effective team member.
4. Ability to understand and follow legislation, regulations and administrative procedures.
5. Experience, knowledge and skills in maintaining discretion and confidentiality in relation to patient records.
6. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office software and understanding of computer systems used in the NT Health or willingness to
learn.
7. Demonstrated practical experience working administrative tasks.
8. Current Ochre Card or ability to obtain one.
Desirable
1. Experience in working in a health/community services environment.
