Description
Purpose: This position will support behavioral health treatment services of multiple departments utilizing various service delivery models. Completing insurance verifications, answering the phone and assisting patients, scheduling appointments. This position is located in South Side working Daylight hours, Monday – Friday. Responsibilities: Educate patients on financial responsibility and connect them to advocacy resources. Verify insurance benefits via online systems or phone. Obtain patient or family consent for treatment and financial responsibility per HIPAA rules. Triage phone calls to appropriate areas or providers. Perform administrative duties like scanning medical records and faxing. Greet patients warmly. Guide patients through self-arrival technology or check-in at the desk. Collect copayments and other patient payments. Update patient registration information at checkout. Schedule follow-up appointments and ancillary services. Help patients navigate the healthcare system and provide follow-up for unresolved issues. Understand and apply service recovery principles. Register patients in the Biometrics program and explain benefits. Promote and assist with MyUPMC patient portal registration. Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required. Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred. Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.
