The Patient Services Representative is responsible to the Center Administrator and provides appointment scheduling, patient registration, cashiering, answers incoming calls and performs other related clerical functions. This primary role provides front office support functions. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM EST You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Provide exceptional service to all customers Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait time Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification and copy required documents Collects co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles and issues receipts Manages cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies Processes walk-in patients and visitors Answers phones and schedules appointments as necessary, verifying correct visit type and primary care provider Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule) Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc. Responsible for waiting room management cleanliness, communicate pertinent information to patients and ensure all patients have been assisted Work with back-office staff to ensure smooth patient flow Resolve service issues and complaints, and defer to appropriate management or clinical personnel when necessary Assist co-workers and team members with duties when requested, to include but not limited to, floating to other areas Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public Performs all other related duties as assigned What are the reasons to consider working for UnitedHealth Group? Required Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED (or higher) 1+ years of experience working in a healthcare or a customer service position 1+ years of experience in a role requiring clear, positive and cooperative verbal and written communication skills (as information will be entered into patient records) Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a call center environment handling inbound and outbound calls Experience with scheduling appointments Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems Medical records experience Solid understanding of medical terminology *All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
