Key Responsibilities: As a vital member of our front office team, you will play a central role in delivering an exceptional patient experience by providing administrative support and compassionate service. Your responsibilities will include: Patient Navigation & Support: Guide patients through the healthcare system with clear, empathetic communication. Follow up on unresolved patient inquiries to ensure continuity of care. Educate patients on financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources when needed. Administrative & Office Support Perform clerical duties such as scanning medical records, faxing, and managing documentation. Assist patients with self-arrival technology or complete check-in at the front desk based on their preference. Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the time of service. Obtain necessary signatures for treatment and financial consent in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule follow-up appointments and connect patients with ancillary services at checkout. Confirm and update patient registration information. Verify insurance benefits through online systems or direct communication with carriers. Communication & Customer Service: Provide a warm, welcoming greeting to all patients. Promote and assist with registration for the MyUPMC patient portal. Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain its benefits. Appropriately triage and direct phone calls to clinical staff or other departments. Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required. Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred. Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
