Newport News, Virginia Overview Works under the supervision of the Supervisor/Manager/Director. Safely and efficiently transports patients, patient's belongings and charts via wheelchair, stretcher, and/or bed. Works as an integral member of the team to assist in transporting specimens, blood, and equipment. Works to ensure that all transport equipment is cleaned and in good working condition. What you will do Demonstrates the ability to effectively collaborate and consult with referral sources, patients, families, and team members. Provides follow up actions as needed. Assists patients, family members, and visitors with directions, assisting as needed. People/Customer Dashboard/Scorecard indicate progress toward achieving departmental goals in employee and customer satisfaction scores. Maintains all equipment needed for transports clean according to Infection Control policies. Takes ownership in new employee/student/co-worker on-boarding to enhance retention and reduced turnover of staff as evidenced by vacancy rates. Maintains working knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, to include patient identifiers and HIPPA. Safely transports patients using knowledge of Infection Control policies, proper body mechanics, and use of patient identifiers. Supports personal departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department. Ensures proper supplies in transportation office to facilitate timely transports. Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products requested and following appropriate procedure for transporting supplies. Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations served within the community.
