Quinault Wellness Center is looking for an individual who would enjoy transporting individuals from their homes in Grays Harbor and Pacific County to our Substance Use Disorder Treatment Center in Aberdeen, Washington. We have a gracious employee leave program to include 14 holidays, paid annual leave and paid sick leave. This position will have one weekday off as well as Sundays. A typical schedule would be Mon/Tue 5:30a to 1:30p, Wednesday – Off, Thurs/Fri 5:30a to 1:30p, and Saturday 5:30a to 11:30a. Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to: Transports patients inside and outside of the facility to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner. Ensures that patient transportation is conducted with the utmost care and in full compliance with all traffic laws and regulations. Instructs passengers in requisite safety precautions and practices while riding in Quinault Wellness Center vehicles. Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction. Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caring and cultural sensitivity. Respects and protects patient confidence and hospital confidentiality by keeping all sensitive and patient information private. Follows all protocols and procedures to ensure safe delivery of patients, their possessions, supplies and laboratory specimens. Operates the Wheelchair lift in accordance with established safety procedures and protocols. Maintains discipline, reports all passenger behavior issues to management. Conducts mechanical condition inspections daily, such as checking vehicle fluid levels and verifying complete and accurate operational performance. Ensures that assigned vehicles meet regular maintenance schedules and keeps operational records. Immediately reports all delays and any accidents incurred. Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to all QWC Policies. Qualifications Position Requirements: Must be 23 years of age or older. High School diploma or GED equivalent required. No DUI convictions within the last fifteen (15) years. Must have complete drivers’ abstract history from Washington DOL with five (5) years of verifiable driving experience. Good driving record. Must be willing and able to use personal cell phone for Multifactor Authentication. All applicants must complete First Aid and CPR certification within the first year of hire. Knowledge of all traffic and highway safety rules and precautions to avoid accidents. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of people, data, and property. Knowledge and adherence to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2). Applicants must always conduct self ethically and professionally. Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI requirements. Knowledge of common office and administrative procedures. Skills in the operation of a personal computer and standard office programs and equipment. Ability to work in a cross-culture environment and understands the social and cultural context of the patients at the Quinault Wellness Center, understanding the role of trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in wellness and recovery. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and outside agencies. Preferred: Recommended at least one-year work in medical/para transport, passenger transport, emergency vehicle operation, or relevant position i.e. military experience. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent must regularly see and hear; frequently stand, walk, talk, smell, use hands and fingers to grasp or feel objects, tools, or controls; and occasionally reach with arm/hand and leg/foot to control vehicles and equipment, bend head and neck, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Necessary aptitudes include understanding instructions, perception of detail, finger and manual dexterity, eye/hand/foot coordination, analytic and problem-solving ability, initiative, precision, alertness, ingenuity, memory, concentration, reasoning ability, and judgement. Working Conditions: Driving is performed utilizing a variety of transportation vehicles. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor setting for up to 10 hours per day, with potential exposure to varying weather patterns. Work environment has potential exposure to fumes, odors, gases, and airborne particles; exposure to moving equipment, and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, wet/humid conditions, working in high, open places, and intermittent vibration.
Responsibilities
The Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting patients to and from the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Center in a timely and safe manner. This role requires effective communication with patients and adherence to safety protocols during transportation.
