JOB SUMMARY

The Campus Security Patrol Officer II is responsible and accountable for the safety and protections of persons and property of UBC. The role patrols the campus grounds and buildings for maximum safety and security visibility towards prevention, observation and well-being for students, faculty, staff and the UBC campus.
The role plays an integral role as UBC’s central point of contact in providing mobile response to all First Aid calls at the UBC Point Gray campus. A vital part of providing first aid will be to assess, treat and provide recommendations to students, faculty and staff within the scope of Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • High School graduation.
  • Completion of BC Securities Services Act Training.
  • Level 2 Occupational First Aid Training
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License
  • 3-5 Years security experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge in security and security systems.
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard to your own safety and the safety of UBC students, faculty and staff.
  • Be of good moral character and habits, meaning that you are an individual other people would look upon as being trustworthy and having integrity and good judgement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
  • Strong customer service skills required to be able to handle a variety of circumstances including de-escalation and rapport building.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts.
