Pavement Analyst (EIT)
GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated Pavement Analyst (EIT) to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a full time Pavement Analyst (EIT) in our Barrie, ON office.
The successful candidate will have the following:

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Completion of a recognized bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. A bachelor’s degree in geotechnical or pavement engineering, or work experience in pavement engineering, would be an asset.
  • Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.).
  • Familiarity with pavement design methods including AASHTO 93 and AASHTOWare Pavement ME would be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime and travel, as required.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to a wide variety of pavement projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing, and proposal preparation.
  • Plan and oversee geotechnical field investigations including asphalt core and borehole logging, test pit logging, soil sampling, as well as associated field coordination and sub-contractor coordination.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Ontario. Extended periods on project sites will be required, with a specific focus on project sites located in Northern Ontario.
  • Safely conduct work both in the office and field; geotechnical drilling investigations may take place in all seasons and weather conditions, requiring the ability to physically operate manual hand-augering and asphalt coring equipment (ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance is required – significant manual labour component required).
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff in preparing proposals and cost estimates, and writing technical reports, presenting field findings, data analysis results, recommendations, etc.
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff in performing design and analytical functions on projects involving pavement rehabilitation and widening design, and treatment of pavement distress areas.
  • Ability and willingness to complete periodic night work on highways.

Position:

  • Full time salaried position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (G2 or G) and reliable personal vehicle.
