PAVING CREW

Pioneer Construction Inc. is looking for a team of dedicated, loyal, and hard-working individuals to fill the available roles on our Paving Crew in the Kenora, Ontario area. Although training is available, experience in the construction industry will be considered an asset. All hires will be trained regardless of experience. These are full-time seasonal positions available with competitive wages and benefit packages, as well as ongoing equipment operators training and room for growth and advancement.

We are looking for people to fill the following roles:

  • Operators for Paver, Rollers, and Material Transfer Vehicles
  • Screen Person
  • General Laborers

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma is considered an asset.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.
  • Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.).
  • Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES:

  • Load or unload and transfer construction materials.
  • Mix, pour and spread materials.
  • Pave and rake asphalt.
  • Assist equipment operators, and other skilled labour when necessary.
  • Assist pipelayers.
  • Prepare construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
  • Safely operate and care for construction equipment and machines.
  • Work in various weather conditions.
  • Travel to job sites with overnight stays when required.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
