POSITION SUMMARY:

Payette National Forest West Zone Silviculture Department is recruiting two 480 Hour AmeriCorps members beginning May 19, 2025. Members will complete field surveys to monitor forest regeneration after wildfire and timber harvest and make recommendations for tree planting. Members will also develop a cone monitoring and collection program to provide the seed we need for future tree planting, among other reforestation-related activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ages 18-30 (up to 35 for veterans)
· U.S. Citizen or lawful, permanent resident
· Must pass a background/driver check
· Must have a high school diploma or GED
· Driver’s License

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· CPR first aid
· Field work experience (hiking, working outdoors)
· Personal transportation

Specific activities include:
· Reforestation assessment surveys (60%)
· Cone collection project development and implementation (20%)
· Other activities as assigned such as: working in a greenhouse nursery, timber marking/cruising, data management (10%)
· Training and professional development (10%)
