JOB SUMMARY
As a Payment Assessor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring workers receive the wage replacement benefits they’re entitled to after a workplace injury.. Using your keen attention to detail and strong knowledge of policies and legislation, you’ll review complex wage information to ensure accurate, timely payments. QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) year post secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline
Minimum one (1) year related experience in a similar environment making decisions based on a defined set of criteria (i.e.: policies and procedures)
Ability to use a personal computer and software in a Windows environment
Aptitude for mathematics, problem solving and detailed accurate work
Ability to obtain, assess and evaluate information to perform calculations
Ability to read, interpret, and apply legislation, policies, financial statements, income tax tables and income tax returns
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to organize and prioritize workload
Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not required
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Salary range: $58,786 - $75,684
There is a combination of permanent and term positions available.
Please note that this position will begin on November 3, 2025 with a 6 week training class. During the period of your training, you will not be eligible to take vacation and hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset.
A satisfactory criminal record check and verification of education will be required for the successful candidate.

Gathers, assembles, reviews, develops and assesses information to establish and issue payments on accepted claim files. Contacts employers, injured workers and insurance companies, and consults with the Adjudicator/Case Manager to clarify payment related issues before benefits are processed.
Reviews and performs routine and complex calculations to confirm initial wage loss, ongoing entitlement and the following adjustments if required: overpayments, garnishee orders, Shelter Rebate entitlements, benefit adjustments (eg. Apprentice, Volunteer or Youthful Worker), annuities and average earnings and issue payments/establish collections when appropriate.
Reads, interprets and applies applicable legislation (WC Act, EI, CRA, etc.), policies, financial statements and income tax returns to determine correct benefit rates.
Communicates in a timely and effective manner with injured workers or their representatives, employers, worker advisors, lawyers and unions to obtain/provide information, respond to inquiries and explain calculations.
Sets up regular cyclical payments of Claims and Rehabilitation files.
Acts as a technical resource to share payment calculation information with other Compensation Services staff and Managers.
Participates in payment related meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
