Job Details Level: Management Job Location: Mason Main Office - Mason, MI 48854 Position Type: Full Time Job Category: Banking JOB DESCRIPTION PAYMENT OPERATIONS ASSISTANT MANAGER JOB SUMMARY The Payment Operations Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the bank’s payment processing functions, including ACH, wire transfers, faster payment systems (real-time payments, FedNow, Zelle, etc.), online bill pay, and other electronic payment systems. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, operational efficiency, and exceptional service delivery to internal and external customers and Fintech partners. The Assistant Manager acts as a key resource for staff development, process improvement, and risk mitigation within the payment operations team. Be able to adapt to a fast paced, changing environment, keeping the team motivated and up to date on changes as they develop. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Oversight: Assist in managing daily payment processing activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for ACH, wires, faster payment systems, online bill pay, and other payment channels. Monitor workflow and allocate resources to meet service level agreements (SLAs). Responsible for improving and updating procedures. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to NACHA, Federal Reserve, Real-Time Payments, FedNow, Zelle and other regulatory guidelines and rules. Support audits and implement controls to mitigate operations and fraud risks. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor payment operations staff, providing training and performance feedback. Serve as a point of escalation for complex payment issues and inquiries. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance automation. Collaborate with technology teams to implement system upgrades and new payment solutions. Participate with vendors or FinTech partners as a liaison (focus groups) to improve systems whenever possible. Customer Service: Partner with internal departments, external customers, Fintech partners, and vendors to resolve payment-related issues promptly. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions. Assists with the resolution of complex or reoccurring issues and identifies root cause and acts as an escalation point. Other: Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act. All other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: College degree or experience equivalent preferred. Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification preferred but not required. Skills: Strong knowledge of ACH, wire transfers, faster payment (RTP, Zelle...), and other electronic payments. Familiarity with payment systems and banking regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payment processing platforms. Experience: 3+ years in payment operations or related banking functions. Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
