POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and technically savvy Payment Operations Specialist to manage new payment method setups and to ensure that payments are delivered accurately, on time, and in line with client expectations. The focus of this role is on operational execution, partner accountability, and technical troubleshooting throughout every step of the payment fulfillment and delivery lifecycle. You will work closely with banking partners, internal teams, and third-party providers to monitor performance, resolve exceptions, and ensure all payment activities meet defined service levels and KPIs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in FinTech payment operations, banking operations, or partner/vendor management

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • Familiarity with prepaid cards, ACH, digital wallets, and other payment methods
  • Strong Excel skills with particular focus on pivot tables, v-lookup, and complex formulas, and the ability to analyze payment data and identify trends or anomalies
  • Experience with SQL, APIs and the ability to read API logs, and working within software databases
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple partners and payment flows simultaneously
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to escalate issues and hold external partners accountable in a professional manner
Responsibilities

Payment Method Setup & Accuracy

  • Coordinate the setup, approvals, and testing of new payment methods (prepaid cards, ACH, checks, digital wallets, etc.)
  • Configure payment methods within Choice Digital’s systems according to client and partner requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation and SOPs pertaining to the payment lifecycle including setup, ongoing monitoring processes, and reporting

Payment Flow Monitoring

Monitor daily payment activity to confirm payments are delivered on time and in expected timeframes

  • Track SLAs and escalate delays or inconsistencies to partners and internal teams
  • Provide transparency to internal stakeholders on payment performance and exceptions

Error Resolution & Technical Troubleshooting

Investigate and resolve exceptions or failures in collaboration with partners and internal teams

  • Use lightweight technical tools to support troubleshooting as needed
  • Partner with Product/Engineering to escalate systemic issues and test fixes

Cross-Team Collaboration
-

Act as a subject matter expert for Customer Support, Finance, and Product teams on payment-related inquiries

  • Communicate trends, root causes, and insights to leadership

Continuous Improvement
-

Identify opportunities to reduce errors, speed up payment delivery, and improve the partner oversight process
