We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payments Assistant to join our Finance team based in Halifax. In this role, you will be responsible for processing purchase and sales ledger invoices efficiently and professionally, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions. You will also provide vital support to the Payables Officer in maintaining the integrity of the nominal ledger. Responsibilities

OUTLINE OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PAYMENTS ASSISTANT…

  • To assist in maintaining an up to date purchase and sales ledger for the Group and to ensure that suppliers are paid in accordance with their terms and adhering the Group’s Financial Regulations.
  • To match goods delivery notes and purchase orders to supplier invoices.
  • To deal with suppliers / contractors’ queries using the most appropriate method.
  • To assist in the reconciliation of supplier / contractor statements.
  • To assist in the issuing of sales invoices.
  • To assist in the debt recovery process for outstanding accounts and taking appropriate action.
  • To assist in the processing of periodic payments, direct debits and standing orders.
  • To assist in the maintenance of petty cash using an imprest system.
  • To assist in general administration duties, including but not exclusively, scanning, filing, and the distribution of cheques and remittances.
  • To assist in the recording of income to the ledger.

  • Starting salary of £24,243
  • Annual pay scale increase
  • 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays
