Purpose: Do you have experience working with health insurance? UPMC is hiring a full-time Payor Specialist, Revenue Cycle to support the Care Management department. This role would work Monday through Friday, as well as alternating weekends and holidays, during normal business hours. The position is eligible to work from home. The Payor Specialist, Revenue Cycle performs administrative and payor-related functions in support of departmental operations. Responsibilities: Initiate payor communication, which includes notification of admission and discharge, as well as any necessary follow up, as directed. Report any identified trends in payor communications. Support the denial management processes, specifically concurrent and retrospective denials, and appeals. Work collaboratively with internal and external contacts to facilitate revenue cycle processes to avoid a negative financial impact. Review payor communication(s) and document pertinent data elements in the appropriate technology solution. Ensure documented information is accurate, comprehensive, and completed per required timeframes. Utilize payor resources, along with any other applicable reference materials, to perform assigned job duties. Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Perform other duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in the healthcare or insurance field OR four years in a business office setting OR Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Organization, time management, and prioritization skills. Self-motivation and autonomy. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
