EPIC Early Learning is looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our finance team. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time. Key responsibilities for the Payroll Accountant position include processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, preparing payroll reports, and ensuring compliance with federal and state payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Compensation Level: $28.00 to $30.00 Hourly (12-month position) Closes: September 29, 2025 AA degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and at least three years of experience in payroll processing; Or An equivalent combination of experience and/or training which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data processing. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity. Experience in working in a nonprofit organization is a plus, but not required. Essential Job Functions: Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information. Process Payroll including but not limited to the following: Process all aspects of Payroll accurately and timely Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax laws, including timely filing of reports and remittance of withholdings. Reconcile payroll transactions to the general ledger and assist with audits and financial reporting for state and federal grants. Process longevity and retirement increases timely when required. Reconcile/Process vendor billings assuring all expenses are properly posted to the General Ledger. Reconcile/Process all payroll cash accounts and liabilities to the general ledger. Reconcile/Process all payroll cash accounts to the bank statements Reconcile retirement quarterly to MOA quarterly report and make corrections where needed. Process quarterly reports. Prepare annual W-2’s Assist Controller with preparation of reviews and annual audit work papers. Coordinate with other members of the finance team and HR to implement changes related to employee status, deductions and funding allocations. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
