Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest. The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. General Summary: Performs a variety of accounting activities such as payroll, auditing timecards and processing biweekly payroll, timecard training for staff, and creating transactions that post to the general ledger. Maintains various files and spreadsheets, audits various payroll & benefits records, and prepares accounting reports for month-end closing and audit purposes. Collaborates with other departments to trouble shoot and resolve issues. Essential Job Functions: • Maintains payroll, records and prepares associated reports. • Performs audits, reconciles expenses, and prepares accurate month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing reports. • Leads collaboration with other departments on payroll, employee benefits, student accounts, provides accounting support, such as account balances, disbursement, expenditure details, etc. • Reviews accounting documents for accuracy and compliance and ensures the required documentation and approval is provided. Supports internal and external audits and prepares audit documentation. • Assists with research, analyses, and other projects or reporting as assigned. • Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need. Requirements Education: • Required: Associate's Degree Experience: • Required: 1-3 years Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Skill in effective communication (both written and oral); skill in independent decision making; skill in problem solving; skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature; knowledge of business management and fiscal practices; knowledge of computer and network operating systems; ability to apply effective and accurate data entry and typing skills; and ability to maintain professional composure in emergent and crisis situations.
