REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A 2-year Accounting Diploma or equivalent payroll/accounting experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines and juggle competing priorities
  • A commitment to customer service excellence, professionalism, and discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • PCP certification from the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset
  • Experience with Business Central Primo is an asset
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deliver high levels of accuracy
Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Prepare, verify, and issue payments including regular pay, benefits, bonuses, vacation, and reimbursements
  • Generate statements of earnings with accurate deductions (taxes, union dues, garnishments, insurance)
  • Maintain and update employee data in the payroll system
  • Review and remit source deductions
  • Prepare garnishments per federal/provincial court orders
  • File and organize payroll time slips and employee records
  • Complete payroll filings: T4s, T2200s, ROEs, and other documentation
  • File quarterly and annual returns for Worksafe BC and Alberta WCB
  • Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Address issues with timesheets and payroll data
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll allocations and monthly accrual entries
  • Support development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
