JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Payroll Bureau Administrator to join our accountancy practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll services for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with HMRC regulations and employment legislation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a payroll bureau or accountancy practice setting.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC processes.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, BrightPay, Xero Payroll).
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and client service abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CIPP qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience with pension schemes and benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) payroll

Responsibilities

Payroll Processing:

  • Run weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients across various sectors.
  • Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), holiday pay, and other deductions.
  • Ensure accurate submission of RTI (Real Time Information) to HMRC.

Client Management:

  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries.
  • Provide advice on PAYE, NIC, auto-enrolment, and salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Set up new PAYE schemes and maintain client records.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Submit pension contributions to providers and manage auto-enrolment duties.
  • Prepare and submit P45s, P60s, and P11Ds.
  • Reconcile payroll reports including PAYE, pensions, and wages payable.

Systems & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records in payroll software and client files.
  • Implement tax code changes and liaise with HMRC on client matters.
  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and software updates.
