We are looking for an experienced Full-Time Payroll Administrator processing union payroll; this position offers flexible hours and competitive benefits.

SKILLS:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Payroll administration function;
  • Advanced skills in standard office applications (Excel, Word)
  • Experience with an in-house customized Payroll
  • Experience with Avanti Payroll Software an asset
  • Well organized with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage and balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Responsibilities
  • Assist/Process bi-weekly and year-end payroll for hourly and salaried based employees in a timely and accurate manner; including compiling, processing and verifying the necessary information for new employees, salary adjustments, overtime, transfers and termination of employees
  • Process employee onboarding and offboarding through Avanti (payroll system)
  • Maintain records of employees’ leave entitlements such as vacation, sick time, banked time, maternity and workers’ compensation
  • Reconciliation of company’s timesheet system including but not limited to adjusting leave entitlements and time entry errors
  • Respond to a variety of inquiries surrounding payroll and benefits from managers, employees, and escalating issues when necessary
  • Collaborate with the payroll team on complex payroll matters or issues
  • Assist with account analysis and reconciliations on taxable benefits, vacation entitlements, employee benefits
  • Calculate, complete and balance all transactions related to third party payments of garnishments, income taxes, etc. to meet regulatory compliance and accounting requirements
  • Maintain payroll related data files including electronic files, offer letters
  • Keep up to date on the latest government rules and regulations on payroll source deductions and remittances, taxable benefits, workers compensation and employment standards related to compensation.
  • Maintain Year-end reconciliation and updating year-end adjustments.
  • Assist with generating and processing statutory government filing such as T4 and ROEs in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Conducts ad-hoc reports for Sr. Management, HR, and Finance team
  • Corresponding with and assisting employee with all payroll queries
