PAYROLL ADVISER

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time or part-time (minimum of 4 days per week)
Our client is a well-established accountancy practice with a busy in-house payroll bureau, currently processing over 200 payrolls each month. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a dedicated Payroll Adviser to join their professional and supportive team, based at their offices in Leicester.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Experience and understanding of Auto Enrolment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive and capable of working independently
  • A strong team player with a flexible and positive attitude
  • CIPP qualification is desirable but not essential
Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients, from sole traders to larger and more complex businesses
  • Plan and prioritise your own workload to meet tight deadlines
  • Process new starters and leavers accurately and efficiently
  • Enter and calculate payroll data, ensuring accuracy at every stage
  • Handle statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.) in compliance with current legislation
  • Submit Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC
  • Calculate and process pension contributions
  • Ensure compliance with Auto Enrolment requirements and make necessary declarations to The Pensions Regulator
  • Upload pension data to various provider dashboards
  • Complete year-end reporting, including P60s
  • Register new PAYE schemes for incoming clients
  • Liaise with HMRC regarding payroll-related matters
  • Communicate clearly with clients via phone, email, and in person
  • Respond to payroll-related queries, including occasional ad hoc requests from clients outside the payroll department
