We are seeking a Payroll and Benefits Professional to take full ownership of payroll and benefits processes for our US and Canadian Team Members. This crucial role within our Human Resources and Culture team is responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll operations (including open enrolment) and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless employee experience.
This position does not have a direct team; it’s a one-person operation requiring a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and collaborates effectively across HR, Finance, and external partners.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Proven expertise in managing payroll systems and benefits programs across multiple locations.
  • Deep understanding of federal and state employment regulations, tax laws, and benefits compliance.
  • Experience working with payroll and HRIS platforms (Rippling, ADP, Workday, Paylocity preferred).
  • Demonstrated success managing vendors and implementing process improvements.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and reporting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll platforms and benefits administration best practices.
  • Ability to analyze data and apply insights to optimize processes and enhance Team Member offerings.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.

Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the full-cycle, multi-national payroll process for the US and Canada, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll operations.
  • Lead and execute all aspects of benefits administration, including open enrollment, health and wellness programs, retirement plans, health savings accounts, and leave of absence management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Team Members regarding payroll and benefits inquiries, providing clear, timely support.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax, wage, and labor laws; maintain payroll compliance and support audit processes.
  • Maintain payroll systems and data integrity, coordinating with HR and Finance teams to reconcile accounts and support compensation analysis.
  • Partner with external benefits vendors to negotiate and manage competitive, cost-effective offerings.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry trends to recommend policy and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records related to benefits enrollment, billing, and compliance for programs such as medical, dental, 401(k), and life insurance.
  • Utilize data insights to benchmark and optimize total rewards programs that enhance the employee experience.
