JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-driven Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in a dedicated, standalone payroll and benefits department. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance reporting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Paylocity, and a solid understanding of employment tax regulations, including W-2s, 1099s, and ACA compliance.
This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently while supporting employees across the organization. Strong communication skills and an in-depth knowledge of payroll and benefits best practices are essential.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Proficiency with Paylocity or similar payroll/HRIS platforms
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance, including W-2s, 1099s, and ACA reporting
  • Familiarity with employee benefits plans and open enrollment processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain payroll and benefits concepts clearly to employees
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and benefits laws
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Payroll or HR certification (e.g., FPC, CPP, PHR) is a plus

Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time using Paylocity
  • Administer all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life insurance, and retirement plans
  • Manage onboarding and termination of employees in payroll and benefits systems
  • Maintain employee payroll records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Prepare and file annual W-2s and 1099s, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations
  • Ensure compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including 1095 reporting and benefit eligibility tracking
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and related policies
  • Coordinate with HR and leadership on payroll and benefits updates, audits, and reporting
  • Monitor changes in payroll and benefits laws and ensure company compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Generate payroll reports and support audits or financial reviews as needed
