POSITION SUMMARY:

We are a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking a highly organized and experienced Payroll Bookkeeper to support our financial operations and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This position works closely with the Executive Director to support all financial activities of the organization, playing a critical role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial records and reports.
The Payroll Bookkeeper performs daily bookkeeping functions, reconciliations, payroll processing, and financial reporting using QuickBooks Online, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail. Experience with IRS Form 990 preparation and nonprofit fund accounting is essential.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience:
  • 3 years of payroll and bookkeeping experience, ideally in a nonprofit environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial statements and IRS Form 990.
  • Education:
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certification in QuickBooks, Bookkeeping, or Payroll is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cloud-based accounting tools such as QuickBooks Online.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting and nonprofit-specific regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with annual independent audits and financial reviews.
  • Understanding of funder and grant reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising and donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang).
