Description The Payroll and General Accounting Specialist bears responsibility for the Payroll function for two companies and one subsidiary and completes various general accounting, invoicing, receivables and payable duties. Responsible for accurate, compliant and timely processing of payroll and distribution to the correct general ledger accounts. Verifies that the accurate mandatory and elective salary withholdings and deferrals are collected and disbursed appropriately. Establishes appropriate internal controls through continuous process improvement in compliance with all government regulations. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Requirements Develops and implements policies and controls to ensure appropriate billing cycles for accurate and timely billing, in accordance with established internal guidelines. Review of payroll and benefit related invoices including self-billing. Coordinate, facilitate and continually prepare for annual 401K audit. Help prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Ensures integrity of payroll data by developing, modifying and/or completing new or established balancing procedures. Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements, Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Manages time and attendance processing and related interfaces. Exhibiting best practices and knowledge on the job. Maintaining a safe and secure working environment. Assists with general HR responsibilities Requirements Experience: 2 years working in a professional accounting environment with payroll administrative responsibilities, including wage, withholding and tax processing. Experience with billing, invoicing, credit and collections procedures. Prior experience working with all levels of the workforce including executive and professional staff. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills: Ability to manage time and energies in an efficient, effective manner and demonstrate intellectual curiosity. Ability to deal with people of all levels of intellectual and professional backgrounds. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to handle multiple tasks, capable of prioritizing and planning work activities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to meet established deadlines with high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
