Payroll Assistant
Job Summary:
The Payroll Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s payroll/human resource department.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date payroll and human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Train in payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
  • Runs payroll time sheet/attendance reports.
  • Prepares and submits semi-monthly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, payroll; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of payroll/human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of Payroll/HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Welcomes visitors and receives deliveries.
  • Assists with new hire orientation as needed
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment and organization-wide meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
  • Must possess problem solving/troubleshooting skills

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College hours/ Bachelors preferred
  • Payroll and office experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times.
  • Work hours Monday-Friday 7:30 am- 4:00 pm
  • May require working remotely at times

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
