QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of payroll processing or accounting experience in a related field preferred.
  • Associate degree in accounting or another related field helpful, but not required.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Independent judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot or problem-solve.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work within scheduled deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the willingness to take on additional responsibilities with training.
  • Ability to take directives from a variety of people and departments for efficient operations.
  • Demonstrated dependability and trustworthiness with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality in a professional manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (both general and technical).
  • Basic understanding of Excel and Microsoft Office with the ability to adapt to various computer programs through training.

Responsibilities

The Lead Payroll Assistant is responsible for overseeing and performing daily tasks related to the timely processing of weekly payroll. Responsibilities include working with the payroll team to calculate daily and weekly time cards, importing and auditing electronic data into the payroll system, processing weekly deductions or garnishments, and ensuring successful paper check or ACH processing. Through training, the Lead Payroll Assistant will learn to operate various computer programs, in addition to completing other administrative and accounting-related tasks. These duties will include performing audits, verifications, and reporting, such as processing W2s and unemployment data. The ideal candidate must possess a high mathematical aptitude, with the ability to ensure confidentiality and accuracy through the full payroll cycle. The ability to work in a team environment and establish positive working relationships with various departments is essential for ensuring efficient accounting processing and business operations.
