About the role    We’re looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our collaborative payroll team on a 6-month contract to support end‑to‑end payroll processes across the business. This is a great opportunity for a system‑savvy, detail‑driven administrator who brings positive energy, enjoys working to deadlines, and is keen to learn and grow in payroll.    You’ll play a key role in payroll support activities, reconciliations, reporting and responding to payroll queries, while also contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. If you enjoy working with data, love finding smarter ways of working, and have a genuine interest in AI and process automation, this role will suit you perfectly.    Key responsibilities:    * Support payroll processing activities, including data validation, reporting, payroll calculations and reconciliations.  * Maintain payroll reports, including end‑of‑month and end‑of‑year support.  * Respond to payroll queries from employees and stakeholders with accuracy and care.   * Maintain strong attention to detail when handling sensitive payroll and employee data.   * Assist with payroll system testing, upgrades and enhancements.   * Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency, including using AI and automation tools.   * Support documentation, templates and standardised reporting to strengthen controls and governance.    About you    You will be someone who actively engages with the team, with a passion for working collaboratively, streamlining processes and ensuring data is accurate. You will likely be:    * A strong administrator who is confident picking up systems quickly.   * Highly detail‑orientated, accurate and reliable, with excellent organisational skills.   * Comfortable working to deadlines in a structured, process‑driven environment.   * Confident using Excel across data entry, data validation and assisting with reports.   * Energised, approachable and positive, with a can‑do attitude.   * Curious and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in improving how things are done.   * Keen to leverage AI and technology to drive efficiencies and better outcomes.   * Able to work well in a team whilst also managing tasks independently. 
Responsibilities
The Payroll Assistant will support end-to-end payroll processes, including data validation, calculations, and reconciliations. They will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging AI and automation tools to streamline payroll operations.
