MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred in HR, accounting, business or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of increasing responsibility in various accounting and payroll roles.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and time systems strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in payroll processing or a similar role is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
  • Capacity to multitask and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

This position is responsible for processing employees’ paychecks by collecting their payroll data and timesheets, verifying employees’ work hours and payment through the payroll system, issuing deductions, earnings and other statements to employees and updating payroll records regularly and providing direct support to the Director, Finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Processes biweekly payroll for employees, including data entry, timekeeping, and calculation of wages and deductions.
  • Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee payroll information or benefits, withholdings, exemptions and saving deductions ensuring accuracy of data entry.
  • Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages.
  • Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee payroll queries.
  • Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures.
  • Processing and issuing W-2 forms to employees.
  • Maintains organized and secure payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Assists with general ledger preparation and journal entry administration as needed.
  • Analyzes existing processes, systems, reports, data analysis and outputs within the payroll dept and recommends potential improvement opportunities.
  • Other duties as required or requested.
