I’M OVERVIEW

Forrest Tax & Accounting Services is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Payroll Clerk to support our growing payroll department. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for assisting with payroll processing, maintaining accurate employee records, ensuring compliance with federal and state payroll regulations, and providing administrative support to the Payroll Lead. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong organizational skills, and enjoys working with numbers.

Qualifications:

  • Previous payroll or accounting experience preferred, but not required (will train the right candidate).
  • Familiarity with payroll software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll data.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities
  • Accurately process payroll for assigned clients using Patriot Payroll software
  • Enter employee hours, wages, deductions, and garnishments.
  • Prepare and verify payroll tax forms and ensure timely submissions.
  • Assist with federal, state, and local tax payments (IRS EFTPS, MI Treasury, MIWAM, etc.).
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Post payroll reports and forms to client portals.
  • Support the Payroll Lead with audit preparation and reconciliations.
  • Handle client inquiries regarding payroll issues with professionalism.
  • Assist with onboarding of new payroll clients.
