REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED), a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the customer service industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; and, three (3) years’ experience in payroll preparation/processing, is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Thorough knowledge of Gross to Net Payroll, wage and hour requirements, and taxation requirements.
  • General accounting background with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal acuity.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency with technology and software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, MS Outlook/Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Sign, and ADP Workforce Now Payroll.
  • Ability to provide excellent quality customer service via telephone, in-person, internet, and mail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely and accurate manner under pressure of deadlines, and with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy with diverse groups and to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to recognize sensitive information and handle information with care and tact.
  • Ability to interpret policy and procedures and keep others informed.

  • Ability to set up and maintain filing/records systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Experience in higher education, medical education, or university environment.
  • Familiarity of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99). This law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Payroll Coordinator (Admin Coord II) administers and performs payroll functions for the University in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles. The Payroll Coordinator must have experience with a timekeeping system (ADP Workforce Now, preferred), and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours including possible holidays, in support of the timely processing of payroll files.
