Johnson County Healthcare Center (JCHC) is a mission-driven healthcare facility licensed for 25 hospital beds (general, swing, and acute care) and 44 nursing home beds. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for accurately processing bi-weekly payroll, maintaining payroll records, administering fringe benefits, and assisting with special finance projects. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Payroll Coordinator ensures compliance with federal and state financial laws, JCHC policies, and industry best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP, Paylocity, Kronos) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Solid understanding of payroll regulations (FLSA, IRS guidelines).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, customer service, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, process, and audit bi-weekly payroll.
  • Maintain and audit PTO and EIB balances.
  • Input, monitor, and process garnishments, child support orders, and employee expense reimbursements.
  • Maintain employee payroll records (W-4s, benefit elections, premium deductions, employee hospital/clinic bill payments).
  • Collaborate with HR on annual wage increases, bonuses, job/wage changes, FMLA reports, and benefit repayment plans.
  • Monitor employee FTE hours for fringe benefit eligibility.
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefit inquiries.
  • Maintain Workers Compensation rates and other payroll system data.
  • Prepare and audit 403b deposits and Health Savings Account contributions.
  • Ensure timely submission of required payroll forms to vendors and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare Employee Statistics reports for the Department of Labor.
  • Audit and upload payroll journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and prepare quarterly CMS reports for employee hours worked.
  • Support internal and external audits, grant paperwork, and other finance administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with CFO to create accountability systems and internal controls.
