Your opportunity
We’re currently looking for a Payroll & Finance Assistant for our Finance team. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, bi-weekly payroll in partnership with our third-party payroll provider, and providing financial administration support across Accounts Payable, Receivable, and reporting tasks.
You will report to the Assistant Financial Controller and be part of the UK Finance team. The role also works closely with HR, external providers (e.g. pension schemes, HMRC), and internal stakeholders across the business.
Where you’ll be
You will be located at our Stokesley site in North Yorkshire, UK, and should be within reasonable commuting distance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Prepare and process payroll data for bi-weekly payroll in partnership with our third-party provider.
  • Verify payslips, handle internal payroll queries, and ensure timely payments.
  • Upload monthly pension contributions and prepare annual P11Ds.
  • Generate payroll accruals, reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide payroll data to external bodies such as HMRC and the ONS.
  • Provide support for staff monthly payroll in case of absence cover.
  • Assist in processing supplier invoices, customer payments, and credit card expenses.
  • Support finance team with general administration and ad hoc duties.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • At least 2 years of recent payroll experience, including use of third-party payroll services.
  • Working knowledge of current UK payroll legislation, pensions, and tax requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including PivotTables and formulas).
  • Experience supporting Accounts Payable/Receivable processes.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communicator and team player, able to work independently when required.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with minimum Grade 6 in Maths and English.
