JOB SUMMARY

Reko International Group Inc. is seeking a results driven Human Resources / Payroll professional to join our team for a maternity leave contract (tentatively March 2025 – January 2027.) This role is responsible for overseeing Human Resources functions, including recruitment, training and development, benefits administration, employee relations, worker’s compensation, and health and safety. Additionally, this role will manage weekly payroll processing through a third-party payroll provider.

Responsibilities

HUMAN RESOURCES RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full circle recruitment including, creating job descriptions, sourcing candidates via online job boards, social media, etc. Scheduling and conducting interviews, reference checks, administering mechanical aptitude testing when required, scheduling pre-placement medicals, etc.
  • Coordinate and conduct all onboarding processes for new employees including new hire orientation.
  • Health and Safety including attending quarterly JHSC meetings and ensuring a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
  • Submit claims for workplace injuries to WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) and coordinate return to work on an as needed basis.
  • Administer employee benefits, including reconciling monthly billings and addressing employee inquiries.
  • Maintain and update the performance appraisal schedule.
  • Assist in developing and implementing training and development programs to enhance employees’ skills and capabilities.
  • Provide reports and HR-related insighted to the Director, People & Culture.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding personnel-related concerns, issues, and questions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, prepare correspondence, and process leaves of absences including vacation, extended sick leave, etc.
  • Provide research assistance on special projects and coordinate grant applications through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (Apprenticeship), Canada-Ontario Job Grant, etc.
  • Prepare confidential documents and memos as needed.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

PAYROLL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile and reconcile hours worked from time sheets and other records on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare, enter, and verify accuracy on all payroll data for third-party processing on a weekly basis.
  • Generate payroll statements on a weekly basis.
  • Verify contributions submitted to the company GRSP.
  • Prepare and submit Record of Employment (ROE) forms for Employment Insurance and respond to employment-related inquiries.
  • Assist with the preparation, balancing and distribution of T4’s.
  • Address employee payroll-related inquiries and concerns.
