Description Job Summary: The Bay Family of Companies Payroll Manager will manage the preparation and execution of the organization’s hourly and salaried payrolls for North America for over 900 employees within the US and Canada. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Builds and maintains a strong functional team through recruiting, training, coaching, team building, and staff development. Supervisory responsibilities consists of overseeing daily workflow of the department and three payroll employees. Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions for domestic and Canadian employees. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Oversee bonus, incentive, commission and taxable fringe benefit payments and documentation. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Reconcile month end accounting reports for payroll, taxes, and benefits. Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures. Responsible for maintaining and conducting regular audits of workers' compensation classification codes and associated rates Serve as the business owner of the timekeeping system ensuring overall timeliness and accuracy of payroll processing for all company locations. Consult with Corporate Finance & Accounting on reporting of payroll data to the general ledger Respond to and troubleshoot questions from HR Operations, Finance & Accounting, and Payroll/HRIS team members Recommend and implement payroll process improvements and efficiencies Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required. CPP accreditation preferred. 5 years related experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a payroll department required. Comprehensive knowledge of payroll practices and procedures required. Experience processing payroll for multi-state companies and Canada. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. Excellent organizational skills and meticulous with detailed information Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency with Excel relating to pivot tables, complex formulas, and functions. Proficient with payroll software.
