CLIENT PARTNER PROFILE & VALUE PROPOSITION: Our client, a reputable real estate management firm based in Orange County is seeking a Payroll Manager for an indefinite engagement (with the possibility of hire) to work in collaboration with HR and Accounting to direct all aspects of the payroll for all locations in multi-states in several entities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4+ years of Payroll/Benefit experience (minimum of 1-2 years in a management capacity)
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to work overtime if and when necessary
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication
  • Attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Recent experience as the day-to-day system administrator for an electronic time/attendance and benefits software system
  • ADP Workforce Now knowledge highly preferred
    PAY TRANSPARENCY: A reasonable estimate of the available hourly pay scale for this position is: $40.00-45.00. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.

Responsibilities
  • Payroll processing including but not limited to preparing, reconciling and processing bi-weekly payroll for 500+ employees
  • Processing all timecards, verifying information and calculations and specific payroll rates related to such items as holiday, overtime, off-shift, meal penalties
  • Administering benefits and supporting other HR functions
  • Acting as the liaison with payroll providers
  • Recommending updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
  • Conducting and analyzing audit reports related to time entry and to validate internal payroll controls
  • Summarizing deductions and withholdings for journal entries;
  • Communicating with employees regarding corrections or action needed and answering payroll related questions, keeping the Director of HR informed as appropriate;
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Implementing, maintaining, and reviewing payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Understanding and applying payroll related local and state ordinances
  • Managing and training payroll & benefits clerks/assistants
  • Monitoring leave, paid time totals, and leave balances and changes in payroll related data
  • Demonstrated understanding of State and Federal laws regarding leave of absence and ADA compliance
  • Coordinating with the Director of HR and benefits broker to update Employee Benefits
  • Collaborating with Human Resources and accounting teams Coordinate and prepare reconciliations for annual financial statement audits
  • Addressing plan participants’ questions regarding plan provisions and distributing 401(k) plan enrollment packets to eligible employees
  • Performing additional duties as directed
