POSITION SUMMARY:

The Payroll Manager ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll and supports benefits and leave administration. As a key internal resource, this role partners across departments to deliver a seamless employee experience while ensuring adherence to tax laws and company policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably multi-state.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and benefits compliance (ERISA, FMLA, ACA).
  • Proficient in Paycor, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience handling sensitive data with confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with benefits and leave administration.
  • Familiarity with additional payroll platforms (ADP, Paylocity, UKG).
  • Experience in payroll system implementation or migration.
  • Exposure to Accounts Payable.
  • Understanding of payroll’s role in both HR and Accounting functions.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle payroll across 23 FEINs, including base pay, bonuses, stipends, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain payroll schedules, perform audits, and manage year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s).
  • Support benefit contributions (401k, FSA, HSA, Dependent Care) and ensure accurate deductions.
  • Assist with leave programs (STD, LTD, FMLA, COBRA) in coordination with HR.
  • Collaborate with Accounting on payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Lead payroll audits and support compliance (401k, SUI, Workers’ Comp, etc.).
  • Improve payroll processes and documentation; support system upgrades and migrations.
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefit inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR and cross-functional teams on payroll matters.
