Description

Via is using technology to transform transportation around the world. From changing a single person’s daily commute to reducing humanity’s collective environmental footprint — we’ve got huge goals.
As Via’s Payroll Operations Manager, you will manage the full employee payroll process from preparation, records maintenance, and monthly financial reporting for Via’s unionized and employee drivers across the United States. You will help shape the payroll function of Via’s rapidly expanding organization while collaborating with colleagues from Via’s Finance team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the end-to-end bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing for employee drivers and unionized employees across multiple states and entities. Duties include calculating wages, overtime, and other shift premiums. Ensure accurate inputs and timely processing by collaborating closely with our Operations team.
  • Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements in relevant payroll processes, including union dues, seniority-based pay adjustments, and other negotiated terms.
  • Work with Finance to allocate payroll costs accurately across cost centers and locations, and partner with HR to gather and validate employee data needed for payroll processing
  • Ensure payroll practices adhere to applicable labor laws, including FLSA, state wage and hour laws, and any relevant union regulations. Stay updated on payroll legislation and implement necessary changes to processes and policies.
  • Perform periodic audits of our payroll data to ensure accuracy of employee pay information.
  • Design and implement process improvements and internal controls to the payroll process.
  • Ensure benefit deductions and tax withholdings are calculated and reported timely and accurately.
  • Lead all aspects of the monthly financial reporting process as it relates to payroll, such as preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll-related questions or concerns from drivers, providing clear and timely responses. Educate employees on payroll processes, deductions, and tax withholdings as needed.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and other assignments as needed to support the broader team.
  • Exercise the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all payroll information and employee privacy initiatives.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
  • Salary Range: $90,000-$110,000
  • We are proud to offer a generous and comprehensive benefits package, including free medical plans and 401K matching.
