JOB SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, deep knowledge of payroll tax laws, and the ability to manage sensitive compensation data with neutrality and professionalism. In addition to technical expertise, the Payroll Specialist must demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively across departments and support a positive work culture.

TEAM COLLABORATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Work closely with Accounting, HR and department supervisors to support cross-functional goals.
  • Build positive working relationships with employees and maintain a helpful, approachable demeanor.
  • Navigate interpersonal dynamics with professionalism and support a respectful workplace culture.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving skills in a collaborative team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2?3 years of payroll experience, including payroll tax reporting and multi-state processing.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, deductions, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP, Paycom, QuickBooks, or similar.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for data entry and office equipment use.
  • Visual acuity for reviewing detailed reports and documents.
