JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for multiple locations across Canada. You will ensure accuracy and compliance by maintaining employee records and making sure all payroll data is collected, entered, processed, balanced, and verified according to company standards and legislative requirements.
This role covers approximately 350 non-unionized employees. While day-to-day communication will primarily be in English, the ability to communicate in French is essential as our office and several sites are located in Quebec.

CORE SKILLS:

Payroll processing, T4, RL-1, ADP, time entry, adjustments, payments, deductions, garnishments, data entry, reconciliation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • 3+ years of experience in Canadian payroll.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Canadian Payroll Association membership (asset).
  • Experience with multiple provinces (asset).
  • Familiarity with Workday (asset).
Responsibilities
  • Compile, verify, and process payroll information in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Perform data entry: master file updates, hours input, adjustments, manual updates, special payments, and other compensation-related details.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports as required.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Prepare manual payments when necessary.
  • Create and process financial reports.
  • Respond to internal payroll inquiries from employees.
  • Communicate with government agencies.
  • Perform payroll balancing and reconciliation procedures.
  • Assist with year-end tasks (T4, RL-1).
  • Execute termination packages.
