JOB TITLE: PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, resolving intricate employee payroll issues, and maintaining compliance with legal regulations. This position demands a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement in payroll processes and systems.

· Education and Experience: Preferred 2 years combination of education and professional experience:

  • some knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and labor laws across all 50 states.
  • Strong analytical skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, especially in resolving complex payroll issues.
  • Proficient in using payroll software and MS Office suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, and external agencies
Responsibilities

· Processes each payroll run for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance; prepares weekly/monthly payroll reports for accounting.
· Analyzes the payroll process and its efficiency over time, identifies areas of opportunity, and presents improvement plans.
· Ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including tax laws, wage and hour laws and other payroll-related regulations
· Verifies wage and salary data for errors/inconsistencies and highlights any issues
· Inspects mistakes and anomalies to determine whether they are systemic or resulting from faulty data input; flags systemic failures and liaises with leadership to rectify them
· Performs regular spot checks to ensure deductions are accurate for each payroll run
· Audits the deductions process to determine and rectify the root cause of errors
· Ensures payroll information updates such as promotions, salary band revisions, or annual salary increases, are entered into the HRMS by payroll staff, checks for accuracy
· Stay updated with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, ensuring compliance with tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and other legal requirements.
· Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
