We are currently looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our growing team in San Antonio, TX!

JOB SUMMARY

The function of this position is to perform and manage payroll processing and related accounting tasks and to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the HR Great Plains and ADP Workforce Now and related platforms feeding into the payroll processing system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 3-4 years of payroll processing experience required.
  • Prior experience with in house payroll processing, including payroll tax filing.
  • ADP Workforce Now and Great Plains experience preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of at least 1 payroll processing platform.
  • Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain current Payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and initiates.
  • Maintain payroll systems to ensure effective accounting processing.
  • Analyze, prepare and input payroll data.
  • Use automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for management (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).
  • Perform various journal entries and account reconciliations and provide General Ledger support.
  • Perform data entry of payroll data such as employee data, garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions.
  • Review time clock entries and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Follow up and contact various department supervisors for any missed time clock entries.
  • Process payroll data.
  • Pull internal management reports using system software.
  • Timely filing of all applicable payroll taxes.
  • Process Garnishments
  • Company lead in payroll audits with outside vendor including 401K audit
  • Responsible for all employee tax issues
  • Responsible for payroll entity setup and registration of new states
  • Responsible for GL feeds from payroll system
  • Funding of H.S.A., F.S.A., Dependent Care, and 401k accounts
  • Maintain accuracy of PTO/Vacation/Sick Leave balances based upon approved requests
  • Complete census and vendor report requests related to payroll
  • Manage payroll vendor relations and contact
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
