Work hard, play hard! The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and distribution of payroll via payroll system. This role responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks as well as coordinates with outside service providers. Additionally, this role works closely with the departments Staff Accountants, communicating payroll specific reporting. This position also maintains employee personnel files and some benefit administration. Our ideal candidate has at least 2-3 years of current payroll processing experience. You’re very detail oriented, able to multi-task, and meet deadlines with strong accuracy. Responsibilities What Will I Do? Prepare and maintain employee files (new hire/termination) in accordance Federal/State laws Initiate new hire pre-employment processing (background/drug screen) through 3rd party suppliers Prepare and submit weekly/bi-weekly payroll runs for checks/direct deposit payments to employees Collect banking information for direct deposit setup and initiate deposits on paydays Familiarize yourself and keep current with the taxation of salaries, benefits, and other factors Process and monitor benefits using various 3rd party platforms Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications Maintain and document all payroll records Participate / conduct semi-annual audits of all payroll records Reconcile general ledger with regards to payroll transactions Detect and process issues related to uncollected payroll Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns Other duties as assigned Qualifications Do I Have What It Takes? Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience Excellent MS Word, Excel, and Outlook skills Ability to communicate effectively and professionally Strong ethics and understanding of confidentiality Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy Solid analytical & problem-solving skills Must be able to work with minimal supervision Experience with Service Titan or Intacct software a plus, but not required Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen Wrench Group and its affiliates are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
