POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing bi-weekly payroll (90%) and biweekly accounts payable activities (10%). The ideal candidate will have proven experience in payroll and strong understanding of compliance and record-keeping, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities: Payroll (Approx. 90%)

  • Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Manage new hires, terminations, benefits deductions, and payroll adjustments.
  • Prepare ROEs, T4s, and other year-end payroll documentation.
  • Liaise with HR and department managers regarding timekeeping, bonuses, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and respond to employee payroll inquiries.

Accounts Payable (Approx. 10%)

  • Receive, review, and process contractors invoices and employee expense reports.
  • Maintain accurate vendor files and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Assist in month-end close by preparing accruals and AP reports.
  • Resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Adobe, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.

Required Experience

  • Previous experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable.
  • Hands-on experience with Excel, Payworks, and Adobe.
