Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist will process weekly and semi-monthly payrolls and maintain employee time records.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE ROLE:

  • Compile payroll data, enter data, compute and post wages and reconcile errors.
  • Process payroll checks while checking all input and deductions.
  • Post, print and distribute payroll checks.
  • Post payroll to the general ledger.
  • Report Company taxes to the IRS.
  • Orchestrate the transfer of payroll funds between banking institutions.
  • Track payroll deductions for the Company’s accounts receivable system.
  • Complete in-house salary informational requests used for such purposes as worker’s compensation, long term disability and pension.
  • Adjust payroll distributions to coincide with other employee payment plans such as worker’s compensation temporary total disability.
  • Track the Company’s vehicle mileage for those individuals using Company vehicles.
  • Administer funds transmission and Company match calculations for the 401k plan.
  • Maintain payroll records through electronic filing of documents.
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.Issue, or reissue, physical replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
