Job Summary The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate, timely processing of multi-state payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, and field leadership to resolve payroll issues, support employees, and maintain high data integrity in fast-paced, high-volume environments. Essential Job Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states Ensure compliance with wage & hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies Maintain accurate employee payroll records, timekeeping, deductions, and garnishments Audit payroll data for accuracy; investigate and resolve discrepancies Support onboarding/offboarding payroll actions (new hires, terminations, final pay) Partner with HR and Finance on benefits deductions, PTO, and reporting Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and urgency Continuously improve payroll processes and documentation Minimum Qualifications Required: Associate degree in accounting or 2–5+ years of payroll experience (multi-state preferred) Strong working knowledge of payroll compliance and tax regulations High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Proficient in Excel and payroll/timekeeping systems Strong communication and customer-service mindset Preferred: Construction, manufacturing, or project-based workforce experience Experience with Vista Viewpoint preferred, but not required Experience supporting union or prevailing wage payroll Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
